WHO ARE WE

Mark Sabolch

is a long-standing member of the Ashfield and District Historical Society, with a deep interest in the history of Sydney’s Inner West built environment. Through his research and public presentations, he has explored the evolution of key architectural styles, including the Victorian Italianate and the Federation Queen Ann style homes.
A professional environmental engineer, Mark combines technical expertise with a passion for
local history. His first published work, The History of Long Cove Creek, examined the environmental history of the Hawthorne Canal and the community’s contribution to the ‘GreenWay’ shared pathway.
Mark has successfully led numerous engaging walking tours, focusing on the evolving
community attitudes toward both the natural environment and the architectural landscape.
Known for his enthusiasm and depth of knowledge, he is a passionate and engaging speaker who brings history to life for a wide range of audiences.
